MAYWEATHER AND ORTIZ PUT ON CANVAS

Celebrated artist Richard T. Slone commissioned to paint Mayweather vs Ortiz

New York, NY, August 30, 2011 Multi award winning artist Richard T. Slone, known for his energetic and vibrant paintings of top level events has been commissioned to paint the upcoming superfight between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz, which takes place on September 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Slone recently unveiled the spectacular pre fight painting which features the two fighters in furious action. The painting is meticulous in detail and brilliantly colored, it is a bold reminder why Slone is touted by critics as one of the premier artist's in the world.

Slone captivates the viewer and pulls them deep into the action in breathtaking fashion in this latest painting.

In Slone's painted vision, Mayweather, regarded by many as the world's best fighter, throws a perfectly timed quick left hook, as the underdog "Vicious" Victor Ortiz forges in throwing a big left hand of his own, looking to shock the world and become the first man ever to defeat Mayweather.

Slone's painting will be used on official event merchandise, including limited edition onsite posters and commemorative poker chips. There will also be a special edition of museum quality fine art prints, some autographed, that will be very limited. The art is available at the MGM Grand during fight week and through various online outlets, including sloneart.com. The painting is also featured on the cover of the September issue of Ring Magazine, available at newsstands worldwide.

Slone is the official artist of the International Boxing Hall of Fame and has created artwork for many major sporting and celebrity events. The list of his collectors reads like a who's who's of modern day icons. His artwork has become synonymous with boxing's superfights, creating official artwork for such recent superfights including DelaHoya vs Pacquiao, Mayweather vs Marquez, Pacquiao vs Cotto, Mayweather vs Mosley, Pacquiao vs Hatton and many more.

Collectors of his art range from celebrity clients and high-roller gamblers, to college kids who collect Slone designed apparel. Slone is best known for his vividly colored images that capture detailed expression and motion. Considered to be a leader in the new generation of sports artists Slone follows a long tradition of artist’s who have painting boxing such as George Bellows, Thomas Eakins and in more recent decades, LeRoy Neiman.
