Slone unveils Jose Sulaiman tribute portrait

A painting of late boxing icon, WBC President Jose Sulaiman was unveiled in December at the WBC’s 52nd annual convention.

Slone was selected and commissioned to create the painted tribute by Jose’s son and newly appointed WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. A special edition of posters and limited edition canvas prints were presented to those in attendance. The portrait captures a smiling Sulaiman and the painting incorporates highlights of the famous green and gold colors, which the WBC belt is recognized throughout the world for.

Jose Sulaiman, former President of the WBC who passed away on Jan 16th, 2014 and was the longest reigning president of any sports organization in the world. An accomplishment that was honored by the Guinness World Records, who presented a special award to Jose’s family.

The painting was unveiled on stage during the WBC gala and shared the stage with many boxing greats including, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Floyd Mayweather, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar de la Hoya, Thomas Hearns, Michael Spinks, Laila Ali, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton, Kostya Tszyu, Jeff Fenech, Evander Holyfield, Erik Morales, Riddick Bowe, Miguel Cotto and many more legendary champions.

"Mayhem" Official Paintings Unveiled

LOS ANGELES: August 22, 1014 | Multi-award winning artist Richard T. Slone has unveiled his latest paintings, for the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana rematch.

Slone was commissioned by Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions to create the official art for the Maywather vs Maidana rematch fight which takes place on Saturday, Sept 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in a fight billed as 'Mayhem'.

Slone’s art has become synonymous with boxing’s superfights, having created scores of official artworks for the sports biggests names in the past decades, including Floyd Mayweather, Lennox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton and many more. This year  Slone celebrated his 18th year as the Official artist of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Renowned artist Richard T. Slone commissioned for 18th year to create the art for the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

CANASTOTA, NY - June 6, 2014 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum commissioned Slone to creat the official artwork for their 2014 Induction Weekend. Featured on Slone's painting is the newest class of inductees to enter the Hall. Living inductees include two division champion “The Pride of Wales” Joe Calzaghe, six division world champion “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya and three division champion Felix “Tito” Trinidad in the Modern category; promoter Barry Hearn, referee Richard Steele, journalist Graham Houston and photographer Neil Leifer.
