"Hatton"
Ricky "Hitman" Hatton The acrylic and enamel masterpiece is 16 inches by 20 inches and masterfully done to pay homage to one of the most iconic sporting figures of the twenty first century.
Ricky is depicted, highly focus waiting to strike in typical 'Hitman' style. The medley of colors create a balance and energy that is typical in Slone’s paintings. The painting portrays a struggle, a battle with the choice of colors and lines. 'Hatton' is a real fight painting. The painting will be exhibited at the Mandalay Bay’s Memorabilia Museum in Las Vegas during the festivities surrounding Ricky's fight against Urango, which takes place on January 20th at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.. This is the second time that Slone has painted Ricky Hatton. Slone was commissioned by the promoters to create artwork for the historic Kostya Tszyu vs Ricky Hatton, that pre-fight painting was made into a limited edition giclee print series. “Ricky is a great guy and I looked forward to painting him”
said Slone, “He has fought his way to the very top and yet remains
humble and dedicated. What I tried to portray in the painting is the struggle
in which he goes through in the ring. I tried to give a simple fight pose
a sense of action and danger". Slone is the official artist of the
International Boxing Hall of Fame and the next time Slone paints Hatton
may be at his induction to the Hall of Fame.
