Slone has completed a large original painting for the event that will be used in marketing the fight. Uses will include the official posters, program covers and event merchandise.

“I’m honored to have been chosen to paint this big fight” said Slone, “It’s a potential fight of the year and has all the elements of a classic fight. It’s Las Vegas, it’s a superfight and they could’ve chosen anyone – I’m honored they asked me.”
Before securing the deal, Banner Promotions president Art Pelullo said, “I think Richard is one of the most talented young artists in the world today and that’s why we want him. I think he adds a lot of class to any promotion. We reached out for him and really appreciate his work.”

Slone, who is nominated for Sports Artist of the Year 2008, painted the 30x40 original on canvas and the reaction has been stunning. “We’ve had inquiries from fans all over the world trying to get a print or even a fight poster” said a representative from Slone Art. “and that’s before it was even finished”. The Hatton vs. Castillo painting will now be used on all official event merchandise such as t-shirts, posters and programs in addition to advertising campaigns.
